World Youth Games 2018.
Here at Fair Isle Tours we are proud to say that we were involved in the transport and organisation of the World Youth Games that took place in Athlone, Ireland in June 2018. The event took place from the 30th of June to the 6th of July and Fair Isle Tours provided a wealth of wheelchair accessible vehicles to transport the athletes throughout the duration of the event.
First off, we would like to thank everyone at the IWASF for their co-operation, assistance and organisation of the event, you were all an absolute pleasure to work with and we hope to work with you again in the future. We would also like to thank all of the athletes involved, you were a joy to work with and also a constant source of inspiration. The ability, commitment and determination shown by each athlete was truly admirable.
Throughout the course of the event, we had eleven buses on site everyday from 6am to 10pm. We had fourteen drivers down in Athlone each day, driving our vehicles and also providing any support they could. Our transport and event organiser Paddy O'Rourke, was also on site everyday from 6am to at least 7pm everyday, ensuring everything went according to plan and we are glad to say, it was a resounding success. We were delighted to see all of our drivers wearing our new Fair Isle Tours T-Shirts and Jackets also. These seemed to be a great success as some of the athletes even asked if they could take some of them home with them, to which we of course obliged and were only too delighted to see this happening.
This event proved that Ireland truly is a great place to host sporting events! Thankfully this year we have had one of the best summers this country has seen in decades and this really benefitted the running of the World Youth Games and in particular for us, the transport of the athletes in every capacity.
We can say safely that a great week was had by everyone involved and we would hope to be involved in the next event organised by the IWASF!
Once again, it was a true pleasure to be involved in such a momentous event and we hope everyone who worked with Fair Isle Tours during this time was satisfied with the service provided. We would like to give a final thank you to all of the Fair Isle Tours employees, The IWASF and most of all, the athletes involved!
It was a great honour!
