Travel to Ireland is on the horizon, with luxury tours this autumn…

Just to follow on from our previous letter, to let you know how things are here in Ireland: there is great news on the vaccine roll-out. 300-400 thousand people a week are being vaccinated and lowest infection and hospital admissions in nearly a year. Unfortunately, the Delta Variant is a cause for concern, but all practical steps are being taken to minimise it’s impact. We are still planning to commence our autumn tour programme.

We have recently returned from a nine-day tour of the west coast of Ireland, starting  in Killarney and finishing in Donegal. This trip, encapsulated virtually the entire world-famous wild Atlantic way.

The route began in Dublin and headed to Killarney, via the iconic Rock of Cashel on day 1.

Day 2: was the Ring of Kerry.

Day 3: The Dingle Peninsula.

Day 4: the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher, finishing in Galway.

Day 5: Kylemore Abbey, the Sky Road, Killary Harbour, the Quiet Man Bridge.

Day 6:  Leenane, Doolough,  Delphi, Louisbourgh and Croagh Patrick.

Day 7: Drumcliffe graveyard, Benbulben, Mullaghmore.

Day 8: Slieve League, Strandhill and Killybegs.

Day 9: Glencar Waterfall.

We were incredibly lucky on this trip, as we had absolutely stunning weather. With the exception of day 4, when we had some rain in the afternoon, we were blessed with blistering sunshine. This allowed our videoographers to attain some stunning footage. Accompanying myself on this trip was Dean Kelly, luxury large coach driver/ James Swan, luxury mini-coach driver/Leigh Dalton, videographer and assistant Gemma Lang. Loraine Lawlor, co-ordinator and PA to Martin.

This is the first time a video of this nature has been undertaken, and the results of this will be available to view on the 12th of July. We can assure you, that this will be a visually  stunning achievement. This will allow you to dip in and view any part of the west of Ireland and we would like to hear your views and opinions on this.  I don’t think any words that I could use, would do this video justice.

This will be available to view on our website from 12/7/2021 onwards and I would urge you to take a look. We would very much like to hear your views and comments regarding same. As I said, this is just for you to browse and enjoy. Simultaneously, on the 12th of July, we are also launching our autumn tours to Ireland, which we hope will meet with your approval. These tours are under the heading A Feast For The Senses. Both tours will begin in Dublin and one will head south and southwest Ireland.

The other one will head west and northwest Ireland. The full itineraries will be available on our website on the 12th of July. We feel that these tours encapsulate all that you hope for on your visit to Ireland. We have put a lot of thought and consideration into this project and feel we have struck the right balance.

We expect there will be a high demand for these tours. As you are no doubt aware, everyone, everywhere,  is anxious to travel as soon as possible. There are limited spaces available as we are only putting a small number of tours online at this point.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

To all our old friends in America, and hopefully some new ones…

This is just a few lines from myself, Martin and all the team here at Fair Isle Tours in Ireland. We are writing to you currently just to reassure you that we are continuing to operate our coach and tour business, albeit at much reduced rate.

Despite what has obviously been a very turbulent year for everyone, we are now looking ahead to the coming months and what they may hold for us. For the benefit of some of you who may not be familiar with Fair Isle Tours, we have been in business for approximately the last twenty-five years.

In recent years we have expanded our business significantly, whereby, we are now offering several tours in Ireland. Briefly, our objective here at Fair Isle Tours is to offer our guests the best possible experience of Ireland. The team and I regard ourselves as incredibly lucky to be able to showcase Ireland to all our visitors.

Some of you may be familiar with the late great Alistair Cooke and his regular broadcasts under the heading a Letter from America. These broadcasts ran from 1936 to 2004, an incredible 68 years, and were designed to keep everyone informed of current events taking place in America. His insight over the last number of years of what has taken place in America, politically, economically and with Covid-19 is sadly missed. So, with due deference to the late Alistair, we now propose to begin our Letter to America.

The object of this will be to keep you informed of what is happening here in Ireland, across all aspects of society. Unlike Alistair Cooke, I doubt I will continue for the next 68 years, but hopefully the link between Fair Isle Tours and America will continue. I would like to point out, this will not be a blog, mainly because I am not sure what a blog is, this is our letter. Thanks to the incredible achievements in science and medicine, we are now seeing the rollout of the Vaccines across the world, which is giving us all great hope for the future.

Over the past year, we here at Fair Isle, have taken the opportunity to prepare for your return. We have kept in contact with our partners, including, hotels, restaurants, attractions etc. In the coming weeks, we will be putting up several tours on our website, www.fairisletours.com. Which we hope you might find exciting.

We will be launching several tours beginning in autumn, under the heading A Feast for The Senses. Most people think of only five senses, taste, touch, smell, sight, and sound. We believe, a lot more exist, including, a sense of humour, sense of hope, sense of belonging, sense of achievement, sense of wonder, sense of place and a sense of wellbeing to name but a few. It is our intention to hopefully satisfy all those senses.

These tours will of course include everything you have come to expect of Ireland, including, top class hotels, fine dining, magnificent scenery, music, poetry and perhaps even some Guinness There may also be some quiz nights, including of course prizes. We would appreciate any suggestions you may have in respect of these tours, or any special requests you may have. These tours will be about a disappearing Ireland and a way of life and will inevitably be nostalgic. I think I am showing my age (66), but I hope this will meet with your approval.

There is so much that we would like to tell you about Ireland. Its history, its culture, its music and its poetry and we would be more than happy to answer any queries you may have. We are also delighted to announce, we are now partnering with the beautiful and historic Lissadell House for the upcoming tourist season (more anon). All our plans are of course subject to change, depending on Covid-19 restrictions. In the event of any bookings made, there are no cancellation fees whatsoever, in respect of the pandemic.

This is our first letter to America and hopefully, the first of many, but for now, we will refer you to our website to view our fleet, our testimonials and credentials. Bye for now. We very much look forward to hearing from you.

Fair Isle Tours is proud to have been involved in the transport and organisation of the World Youth Games that took place in Athlone, Ireland, in June 2018. Fair Isle Tours provided a significant number of wheelchair accessible vehicles to transport the athletes throughout the event.

During the event,  we had 11 buses on-site every day from 6 am to 10 pm and  we had 14 drivers down in Athlone daily driving our vehicles and providing any support they could. Our transport and event organiser Paddy O’Rourke was also on-site every day from 6 am to at least 7 pm, ensuring everything went according to plan.

We are so proud and happy to conclude that the event was a resounding success. It was a real pleasure to be involved in such a momentous occasion and would like to thank everyone at the IWASF for their co-operation, assistance, and for their trust on us. We would also like to thank the athletes involved in being a constant source of inspiration. We hope you enjoy wearing our new  Fair Isle Tours t-shirts and jackets that some of you took back home.

We are looking forward to being involved in the next event organised by the IWASF!

Fair Isle Tours is proud to have been involved in the Dublin 2018 World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships. Attended by over 700 team members from 38 different countries across Europe, the event included providing transport over 11 days. Understanding the scale and significance of this event, we were determined to provide an exemplary service to anyone involved.
We worked closely with the organisers of the Paralympics from the outset which included the initial planning and creation of daily transport schedules for athletes, staff, and organisers. Our service also included airport arrivals and departures, staff co-ordination on the ground, and transport from 7 different hotels to and from the competition venue several times a day, from 6 am to 12 am.

We also catered to special requirements such as wheelchair accessible transport for a number of our participants. We adjusted to last-minute needs and we were able to provide additional services when required.

We delivered a satisfactory high-quality service and delivered on all of our commitments with a positive and can-do attitude. As a result, we received excellent feedback from the client who also described our drivers as ‘the most welcoming and courteous.’
We are so grateful to have got an opportunity to work with the Paralympics team, and we hope to plan such successful events again in the future.

Following the visit of the Vice President of the United States inJune 2016, it was our honor to provide support during President Donald Trump’s visit to Ireland between the 5th and 7th of June, 2019.

We co-ordinated the elaborate transportation plan, and ourdrivers were committed toproviding time safe movements for the crew of the Air Force One. Our service included delivering 3 mini-buses, 3 coaches, 6 driverson-call 24 hours a day, positioned over an hour from the airport with numerous pick-ups and drop-offers.

From handling the pre-planned movements, short notice requests, and security requirements, we were able to make President Donald Trump’s visit to Ireland seamless and successful. We would like to thank the USA team for this second opportunity, and we hope to meet your expectations next time as well.
